Orono Man Accused of Killing Nichole Cable Now Arrested on Burglary Charge
The man accused of killing 15-year-old Nichole Cable is now facing burglary and theft charges. Police began investigating the residential burglary at a home in Kenduskeag months before Cable went missing.
In January 20-year-old Kyle Dube became a person of interest in the case. Six months later, in June, police executed a search warrant at Dube’s residence in Orono, searching for property stolen during the Kenduskeag burglary. During the search, a police K-9 located one of the firearms stolen from the residence, along with items that matched the description of stolen property from a different burglary.
Dube was arrested this week and charged with burglary and theft by unauthorized taking. He’s also awaiting trial, charged with intentional or knowing murder and kidnapping for the death of Nichole Cable, who went missing on Mother's Day after leaving her mother’s house to meet someone she said she knew. She thought she was meeting another teen she had been talking to on Facebook. It was actually an account that had allegedly been opened by Dube, under an assumed name. Dube has pleaded not guilty for the murder and kidnapping charges.
