One person is dead following a collision on I-95 in Wells between a pickup truck and a snowplow.

Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says a pickup slammed into the rear of a turnpike plow truck. The driver of the pickup was killed in the crash that took place in the far left travel lane, at mile 16 of the northbound lane. The Portland Press Herald has identified the pickup's driver as 48-year-old Michael Sands of Waldoboro.

Police have closed off one lane of traffic while the scene is cleared and reconstruction teams investigate the accident. Troopers expect the site will likely be cleared and that lane opened to traffic by 11:00 this morning.
