A man was killed this weekend in a motorcycle crash just a few miles from last weekend's fatal accident.

Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says the accident happened just after 10:30 Saturday night at the intersection of Center Road and Lower Cross Road in Lebanon, about 4 miles from a fatal motorcycle crash last weekend. The victim is 26-year-old Matthew Goodwin of Somersworth, New Hampshire.

State Police say Goodwin had been riding his motorcycle on Lower Cross Road, traveling west when the bike skidded on its side and crossed the intersection before striking multiple trees and rocks. He was not wearing a helmet and was declared dead at the scene.

Troopers say the cause appears to be speed and unfamiliarity with the road, however a blood test will be done to determine if alcohol was also involved. Police are investigating to determine where Goodwin was earlier in the evening. Anyone with information is asked to call the Maine State Police in Gray at (207) 657-3030 and speak with Trooper Jason Wing.

This is the 27th motorcycle death of the year in Maine.
