Police were called to the scene of an accident between a semi and a car early Saturday morning. The driver of the car was killed when his vehicle crossed the center line and collided with the 18-wheeler.

Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland said in a press release that a tractor trailer, driven by 35-year-old Marc Bowland of Rhode Island, was headed west on Route 202 in the town of Hollis just before 3 o'clock. A passenger car, driven by 24-year-old Travis Lowberg of Raymond, was heading west when it crossed the center line and into the path of the tractor trailer.Lowberg was pronounced dead at the scene while Bowland suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The tractor caught fire upon impact, but Bowland was able to escape the burning vehicle through the passenger side window. The Department of Environmental Protection also responded to the scene, as well, due to fuel leaking from the truck.

State Police are investigating, to determine what caused Lowberg's car to cross the center line. This is the second time in a week that someone has died when their vehicle struck a tractor trailer.
