Members of the police and fire departments of Old Town and Bangor will face off this week in a hockey game to benefit a teenager battling a brain tumor.

It promises to be a fun and entertaining evening as public safety employees from both towns face off on the ice at the Penobscot Ice Arena. Can these folks, who usually ride in cruisers and fire trucks, skate? Time will tell, but whether they can or can't skate well, it should be a hoot to watch!

And the best part of the event is that the proceeds will benefit 15-year-old Gabby Sherman, who's a Freshman at Old Town High School. Gabby is battling a brain tumor for the second time and is undergoing chemotherapy. She's an inspiration to everyone she meets, and isn't letting the chemo slow her down. Her teachers at the school say she's very positive and outgoing, and is even hoping to be a manager for one of the sports teams this spring!

The Old Town vs Bangor Fire/Police Benefit Hockey Game is being held Thursday evening, April 28th at 5:40 pm. at the Penobscot Ice Arena, on the Acme Road in Brewer. And, if you can't make the game but would like to help Gabby out, a gofundme page has been set up that's raised nearly $1,500, as of Tuesday morning.
