October-Breast Cancer Awareness Month
October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. If you think about it, we all know someone who has had cancer. I have had cancer twice. My mother has had breast cancer. My father had intestinal cancer and has lymphoma now. Mary Ellen Warman who worked with us when we were Cumulus died as a result of breast cancer. Cancer sucks! I hate cancer! Hate is a terrible word, and we shouldn’t really use it, but I can tell you that I hate cancer!
Every day during the month of October I’m going to post something to do with cancer. We who live in the greater Bangor area don’t live in a cancer cluster. It’s worse than that. It’s a cancer epidemic.
When Martina McBride’s song “I’m Going to Love You Through This” was published on September 6, 2011 I remember not being able to watch it without tearing up. It hits home, but it’s so especially poignant as we begin the month. Please watch it, and I hope that if you know of someone with cancer, that you’ll love them through it, or if you have cancer, that you have someone that will love you through it.
