The National Weather Service in Caribou has issued a winter weather advisory for parts of Aroostook and Penobscot Counties from Tuesday at 2 p.m. to Wednesday at 4 a.m.

Wet snow could be heavy at times with accumulations ranging from 4 to 8 inches, the agency said in a Monday news release.

"Heavy, wet snow will lead to difficult driving conditions with snow covered roads," the release said.

Forecasters said to be prepared for limited visibilities and use caution while driving.

The winds will be blowing out of the southeast at 10 to 15 mph with gusts reaching 20 mph.

Temperatures in the lower 30s Tuesday afternoon will dip to the upper 20s that night.
