A pair of Northport residents have been arrested for manufacturing methamphetamine, according to a press release from the Maine Department of Public Safety.

James Scheider, 39, was arrested and charged with aggravated trafficking in nethamphetamine, aggravated operation of a methamphetamine laboratory and violating his probation.

Stacey Dykes, 37, also faces charges of aggravated trafficking in nethamphetamine, aggravated operation of a methamphetamine laboratory and violating probation.

Wednesday afternoon, drug agents from the MDEA Mid-Coast District Task Force arrested the two at their apartment on Atlantic Highway. A "one pot" laboratory and other items used to manufacture methamphetamine were seized from the residence, said public safety spokesman Stephen McCausland.

The suspected meth lab was discovered when drug agents and state probation and parole officers conducted a probation check on the two suspects. The two were serving probation as part of sentences they received in October 2014 for trafficking methamphetamine.

Wednesday's arrests marked the 19th time the MDEA has responded to a meth-related incident this year.
