Norridgewock Teen Drowns In Local Pond

A 17-year-old boy drowned while swimming with family members in Embden Pond in Skowhegan Sunday night.

Police say 17-year-old Scott Brown of Norridgewock was swimming to shore from floating docks when he went under the water and didn't come back up.

Investigators say Brown wasn't entangled in anything that would have held him under. They say dehydration or a muscle cramp could have contributed to the drowning.

Brown was a Skowhegan Area High School honor roll student and football player.
