Once again, a resident of New York has been arrested in Maine and charged with trafficking in illegal drugs. In this case, the man was found to be in possession of oxycodone, as well as thousands in what's believed to be proceeds from his sales.

The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency announced on its Facebook page today the arrest of Rafael Brito, age 28 from the Bronx, New York for Class A Aggravated Trafficking in Schedule W Drugs (oxycodone). He was taken into custody as he got off a bus in Augusta. Brito was found to be in possession of 270 30-mg oxycodone pills with a street value of $12,000, as well as $3,900  in drug proceeds.

For the past two months, agents from MDEA's Mid-Coast District Task Forces conducted an investigation into the illegal distribution of Oxycodone by Brito throughout Knox County. The investigation revealed that he was traveling to Maine on a weekly basis, carrying large amounts of oxycodone. According to the release, Brito had a number of local people selling the oxycodone throughout that region.

Brito was taken to the Kennebec County Jail where bail was set at $15,000 cash. He has three prior convictions for drug trafficking in New York and Maine. Assisting in the investigation were officers from the Rockland Police Department and Knox County Sheriff's office.
