A boy named Lucas wasn't the first baby born in Maine this year, but he did make the most dramatic entrance.

WABI-TV reports it was hardly a routine day at Bangor's Eastern Maine Medical Center. Jennifer Sicard-Flood arrived at EMMC in a pickup, to deliver her baby boy Lucas. But tiny Lucas was in a hurry and couldn't wait until his Mom got upstairs to one of the beautiful new birthing suites. Instead, he decided to come into the world while his mother was still in the truck in the parking lot of the hospital.

The Bangor Fire Department was called to help with the delivery. After the hours spent fighting fires in frigid temperatures, they considered this the nicest assignment in a while.

The first New Year's baby born in Bangor was Liam Thompson, born to Sarah and Luke. And the first New Year's child in Maine was a boy named Jaxon, whose Monmouth parents welcomed him into the world at around 3:30 Monday morning. Everyone is said to be happy and healthy.
