New Video ‘Premiere’ from Taylor On CMT, But is it Country?

An unusual video release on CMT from Taylor Swift: ‘I Knew You Were Trouble.’ She narrates the beginning which makes for an interesting opening for sure, but can we really consider it country music?
Every time I hear a song from a country artist that’s just outside the ‘country’ sound that we all come to expect, I often wonder if country music is taking another turn. I remember when Garth Brooks arrived on the scene back in the 90′s. Garth took country by the horns and made a hard right into a more rockish, high-energy genre which soured a few hardcore ‘twangy’ country listeners. But the younger country fans just couldn’t get enough of ‘ol Garth.
Well, here we are at the precipice once more, but this time with a young lady by the name of Taylor Swift. There’s no question Taylor lives in two worlds: country and pop. I guess the question is, ‘Will Taylor become a game-changer in country music?’
