Once again this year, Mt. Waldo Plastics is offering a line of pink shovels to benefit cancer research being done in Maine. And this year's line includes two new ones!

Last year, Mike and Stacy Thibodeau, owners of Mt. Waldo Plastics, introduced the Pink Snofighter. Sales from the pretty pink shovels raised more than $13,000.00 for cancer research in Maine.

So this week, in an effort to raise even more money, the company unveiled two new models! The 'Mountain Mover' and the 'Snow Pusher' will also be offered to those wanting a little color in their winter snow removal. Now you can buy several to get your yard totally clear with a touch of pink!

Mike Thibodeau says he hopes that introducing two new kinds of shovels will triple the money they made for cancer research last year.

"Last year, we started with the modest goal of raising a few thousand dollars for Cancer Care," Thibodeau said in a press release. "What happened exceeded our wildest expectations. People really seem to love these colorful shovels and the fact that they're raising money for such an important cause."

Jenifer Lloyd, who is Philanthropy Officer for the EMMC foundation, and a cancer survivor, says that makes a huge difference to cancer patients. She says it gives them 'a lot of hope' when they see a company keep its word to helping fund cancer research.

I love this idea! A couple winters ago, a horse farm on my morning commute had a bright pink basin that I looked at every morning in January and February. That splash of bright color amidst the grey and white of winter just gave me hope for spring. And now, you can have that feeling every time you have to go move the snow from your yard!

You'll find a list of retailers selling the Pink Shovels on the Mt. Waldo Plastics' website. Get ready for winter and Think Pink!
