The Livestock Barn at Unity College has four new inhabitants!  Check out these cute Katahdin sheep!

According to a Unity College press release, Katahdin sheep are a Maine-native breed known for being covered in hair, not wool, and do not require tail docking or shearing, which cut the costs for the farmer.

Female Katahdin sheep usually have one to three lambs per litter within a five month period from being bred. The College will keep two of the lambs as future breeders and the other two will be shipped of to farmers for the same reason.

Recent graduates of Unity College include Julie Fox, who is an intern at the Mystic Aquarium in Connecticut; Derrick Maltman is an animal keeper at the Tanganyika Wildlife Park in Kansas; and Kristen Volpi is an animal educator at Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge in New Jersey.
