In response to a car crash that killed 15-year-old Bucksport resident Taylor Darveau last year, this bill would create stickers to be placed on vehicles driven by new drivers.

Republican Sen. Kim Rosen introduced the bill that would help law enforcement and parents identify young drivers with intermediate licenses.

The 16 year-old driver of the vehicle Darveau was riding in was an intermediate license holder who legally should not have had any juveniles, other than family, riding with her.

Darveau's parents Corey and Christina originally proposed the bill and would like to stress the sticker would be optional even if the bill passes. Those in opposition say the stickers would be more of a target for people seeking underage boys and girls.
