Three years, three bikes. You may have heard me tell the story about my motorcycle adventures and near tragedies. In a nutshell, I purchased a 2005 Honda Shadow Aero from Friend and Friend in Orono, which by the way are great to work with. I crashed and totaled that bike after getting hit by a deer--that's right, it hit me. Three weeks later I replaced it with a 2008 Suzuki Boulevard, which I also purchased from Friend and Friend. I put quite a few thousand miles on it, and Shirley loved to ride too, but it wasn't really comfortable for her. So the the search began for a bike that we both would be happy with.

After many visits to Friend and Friend, and lots of searching on the internet for reviews and prices, in my heart of hearts I decided really wanted a Victory bike. An American made ride is what I desired the most. The Victory--made by Polaris--personifies quality, comfort, and the American way.

Here's what happened that led us to buy the Victory in picture above:

I first tried a 2012 Victory Cross Country Tour just like the one in the pic, but I dragged my feet and someone else snapped it up. My bad. A brand new one was out of range, so we decided to try a 2013 Victory Vision Tour. Nice ride, but the styling didn't compare with the beauty of the Cross Country Tour--at least in our opinion. So we decided to hold out over the winter months. Then by a small miracle, or as Lou at Friend and Friend said, "You just can't make this stuff up," a 2012 Victory Cross Country Tour was traded in in Ellsworth and they hauled it to Orono. Let's just say the Victory was really our victory this riding season.

Huge thanks to Lou, Brad, Shawn, Sean, Roscoe, Brian, and the always sweet and adorable, Geraldine, who answers the phone when you call. They make up some of the Friend and Friend crew in Orono who are pros in the motorcycle, ATV, and snow sled and recreational accessory world. If you're stopping by, tell them Nelson sent ya.
