The woman driving a vehicle that was struck and knocked off the road by another car is facing multiple charges. Power was knocked out for the community when the woman's vehicle was pushed into a utility pole's guide wire.

The accident happened at around 6:30 Tuesday evening on the State Road in Mapleton. A car driven by 71-year-old Sharon Jensen of Florida tried to turn left into a driveway but struck an SUV in the opposite lane. State Police say the SUV was being driven by 37-year-old Susan Labelle of Presque Isle, but belongs to Shannon Deabay.

The impact forced the SUV off the road and into a utility pole's guide wire, knocking out power to the area. A 10-year-old in Labelle's car sustained a minor head injury but the boy didn't need to be taken to the hospital. Jensen also received minor injuries from the crash that totaled both vehicles.

State Police issued a summons to Labelle for operating after suspension, as well as two traffic summonses for the 10-year-old, who was riding in the front seat, and a 4-year-old girl who was not secured in a child safety seat.

The State Police were assisted by the Mapleton Fire Department, Crown Ambulance, and Emera Maine.
