A school principal from Farmington, ME has been named the state's principal of the year.

The Kennebec Journal reports Tracy Williams of W.G. Mallett School was named Maine’s National Distinguished Principal of the Year by the Maine Principals’ Association.

Williams was honored with the award during a special assembly at the school on Tuesday. She told a crowd of students and staff that the award reflected the work of the school as a whole.

Williams has spent the last 10 years with W.G. Mallett School, which teaches Pre-K through third grade.
