The crash scene this weekend in Knox County required multiple first responders as a vehicle careened into a building, cars, and people, killing one young boy.

Knox County Chief Deputy Tim Carroll says 61 year old Cheryl Torgerson of New York, New York was driving near Monheagan Boat Landing in port Clyde yesterday afternoon when she lost control of her vehicle, crashed into another car, continued to accelerate and struck a building with a pedestrian standing close by.

The pedestrian is identified as 68 year old Jonathan Coggeshall of Port Clyde and he remains in Penobscot Bay Medical Center.

Chief Deputy Carroll says the vehicle continued on and struck six more parked, cars and a family of four who were walking along the wharf.

The impact of the crash killed a 9 year old boy and injured two other members of his family.

The boys father has asked that the boy's identity be withheld until all family can be notified and the boy's mother is undergoing surgery while his six year old sister is in stable condition.

No word yet from the Knox County Sheriff's Department on what caused Torgerson to lose control of her car.
