A New Brunswick man wasn't seriously hurt when his car collided with a moose in Northern Maine.

State Police say the accident happened just before 9:00 Tuesday night on Route 2A in Greenwood Plantation. 49-year-old Paul McCleary was traveling north when a moose crossed the road in front of his sedan. McCleary couldn't avoid the animal and struck the moose, causing substantial damage to the hood, front bumper, front and back windshields, and roof.

He was checked out by paramedics for a cut on his head and a wrist injury, but refused transport to the hospital. His vehicle is a total loss.
