A 14-year-old Readfield girl, who went missing last month, has been found safe in Georgia, however the man who was with her committed suicide.

Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland says Heavenlee Benjamin was located in the company of 35-year-old Robert Gooden who had met the teen on social media. An arrest warrant was issued yesterday for Gooden, charging him with kidnapping. But the Georgia man shot and killed himself Tuesday morning as police entered the residence he was sharing with the teen. Police say Gooden took a bus to Maine in late February and then he and Gooden returned to Georgia on the bus. Investigators were led to the pair's location by the Maine State Police Criminal Crimes Unit

Police say Gooden had threatening intentions. and that the girl, whose foster parents described as 'quiet,' was likely in a dangerous situation.
