A Newport man who was lost in the woods with his girlfriend was arrested after the two were found on Tuesday.

40-year-old Michael Chapman and 38-year-old Kelli McFarlin went missing while camping with 6 other people by Little Wilson Falls in Piscataquis County.

The campers were packing up and getting ready to leave on Monday when Chapman and McFarlin left the group.

The Bangor Daily News reports the couple said they just wanted a couple of minutes by themselves. The couple took a side trail and got lost.

The two were found about two miles from where the group's vehicles were located.

Chapman, who was arrested and taken to the Piscataquis County Jail after he was found, was convicted in a robbery at a Corinth store in 2012.

No word on if the outstanding warrant is related to the Corinth break-in.
