Miranda Lambert has selected her second single from her new album, The Weight of These Wings: "We Should Be Friends."

"We Should Be Friends" appears on the Nerve, the first disc of Lambert's double album. The upbeat song finds Lambert musing on the qualities that make her ... well, her -- qualities that she wouldn't mind also finding in a friend.

"If your mind's as cluttered as your kitchen sink / If your heart's as empty as your diesel tank," the song begins. Other stand-out lines include, "If you borrow dresses like you borrow time," "If everything your daddy said is somethin' you can put stock in" and "If you use alcohol as a sedative and ‘Bless your heart’ as a negative."

"I don't know you well, but I know that look," Lambert sings in the chorus of "We Should Be Friends." "And I can judge the cover 'cause I wrote the book / On losing sleep and gaining weight / On pain and shame and crazy trains ..."

"We Should Be Friends" follows "Vice," Lambert's first single from The Weight of These Wings. She first shared the track on Nov. 11, in advance of the project's release. In addition to the two singles, Lambert has also shared The Weight of These Wings tracks "Highway Vagabond," “Covered Wagon” and “Keeper of the Flame,” the song from which Lambert’s summer tour drew its name.

Anticipation has been building for The Weight of These Wings, especially in light of the singer’s well-publicized divorce from Blake Shelton. The aftermath of that relationship was detailed in Shelton’s If I’m Honest, and Lambert has been clear that her album will also be … well, honest.

“Every record I’ve ever made has been a reflection of where I am right then in my life, however old I am. And I’ve never held back at all,” Lambert explains. “But this time, with what I happened to be going through in my life, being honest was never really a choice. Everybody knew anyway. So I just said, I’m gonna journal it, and — good days and bad days — use it for my art.”

Don’t expect The Weight of These Wings to be a sad breakup album, though.

“I’m never gonna have an album that’s quote-unquote a ‘heartbreak album’. Because everybody has bad moments, and then you come out of it, and you have a great moment, and then you have some somber times,” she says. “I want an emotional journey, because that’s what life is, and I want to document that.”

After releasing The Weight of These Wings on Nov. 18, Lambert will begin her 2017 Highway Vagabond Tour on Jan. 26 in Evansville, Ind.
