Fire ripped through a Millinocket home early this morning and killed a man who's presumed to be the homeowner.

The BDN reports the Elm Street fire, that was reported just after 3:30 Thursday morning, was so bright that neighbors could see it through their closed blinds. Part of the house was destroyed as neighbors banged on the windows and tried to wake the only occupant of the house. But flames and heat broke out the windows and consumed the building so they couldn't get inside.

WABI-TV says the man is tentatively identified as 55-year-old Michael Olin. Investigators will be on the scene today to try and determine what sparked the blaze.
