It looks like Mike's Country Store will be back in business sometime early next year!

According to an article on the Ellsworth American's website, Danny Sargent, a local realtor, says that the business is now "under contract," and that the buyer and their plans will be revealed next week!

This is great news for customers of this long standing Ellsworth retail establishment!  Mike's Country Store had always been a destination for the morning newspaper, milk, bread, lottery tickets and maybe an after work six pack.

Jody Colson, the step daughter of the late Eddie Povich, had run the store since his passing.  Working the store became too much for Jody, she wanted to spend more time with her family and closed the store on October 31st of this year.

Sargent says that work is already being done inside the store and that it will retain it's original name.  He also said that the new owners will conduct "business as usual" but have " a lot of good ideas" for the future.

According to Sargent, the store should be open as soon as possible, probably early next year.

We welcome this familiar Water Street store back and wish the new owners a very successful future!!
