The National Weather Service in Caribou has issued a Winter Storm Warning from late Tuesday night until Wednesday evening with 8 to 14 inches of snow expected in central and northern  Aroostook County.

The areas of greatest snowfall will likely include Presque Isle, Caribou and the upper Saint John Valley, forecasters say. Once again, the highest snowfall is expected in the north.

A winter weather advisory is posted in southern Aroostook County, where snowfall could be in the 3 to 5 inch range.

The weather service expects travel to be treacherous due to a combination of snow, sleet and freezing rain through the day on Wednesday. Winds will be 10 to 20 mph with some higher gusts.
