The Maine Department of Transportation will hold an informational meeting in Eddington tonight to discuss the progress of an I-395/Route 9 Connector.

It's been a controversial proposal, that's divided residents between those who think it's a good idea and others who dislike the location or the plan altogether. The connector would extend I-395, where it ends at Wilson Street in Brewer, and continue it along the Brewer/Holden line, finally ending with a stop sign at the intersection with Route 9 in Eddington. The hope of Maine D.O.T. officials is that it will ease truck traffic in the communities, and will make a more direct route between Maine and Canada.

MDOT officials will be at the meeting to update the public on recent updates to the plan and to detail the timeline as the 'plan' becomes an actual project. They will also hear comments from the public and answer questions.

The meeting starts at 6:00 tonight at the Eddington Elementary School.
