Although they display their daily needs and desires, they also understand when we are not ourselves--whether it be sickness or sadness. And if one of us is missing for a period of time, or not where we should be at certain times of the day, they display a restlessness and sadness that is evident in their every move. They genuinely care for our well-being.

That bond that dogs have for us has never been more evident than with the story of slain Kentucky police officer, Jason Ellis.  How heartbreaking it was to see his K-9, Fido, mourn the death of his owner.

Officer Ellis, was tragically gunned down in an apparent ambush in rural Kentucky recently.
