Man Who Claimed to Have Killed His Mother Arrested on Drug Charges

State Police have arrested a man who allegedly assaulted four family people and claimed to have killed his mother. Police learned the mother was not dead, and then searched the man’s home, only to find a variety of drugs.

Troopers were called to the Orland home on Monday morning, to a report that Christopher Well, age 38, had assaulted them. In addition, they told troopers that Wells claimed that he had murdered his mother.

According to a press release from Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland, the Troopers determined that Wells was under the influence of bath salts when he entered the neighbors’ home on Gross Point Road. Police investigated and determined that Wells’ mother was still alive, however the four people who originally called had been assaulted.

Troopers then searched Wells’ home nearby and found 294 hypodermic needles, drug paraphernalia, and a usable amount of bath salts, cocaine, and marijuana. Wells is charged with four counts of assault, two counts of unlawful possession of schedule W drugs, possession of hypodermic apparatus, possession of a usable amount of marijuana, and sale and use of drug paraphernalia.

Assisting troopers were members of the Marine Patrol, Bucksport Police,and Maine Drug Enforcement.
