Brunswick police are investigating a report that a man was engaged in lewd public behavior near a Bowdoin College housing complex early Thursday morning.

A Bowdoin College security officer reported the incident near the Mayflower Apartments housing complex on Belmont Street at about 3:30 a.m., reports CBS 13.

The security officer told police the man was standing with his pants at his ankles and his hand on his genitals, said Cmdr.Marc Hagan of the Brunswick Police Department.

The security officer approached the man, who then ran north on Maine Street. Police searched the area but did not find the suspect, who is described as a black male, 5 feet 8 inches tall, weighing 130 to 140 pounds, in his late teens or early 20s, Hagan said.

In November, a female student reported being sexually assaulted in her apartment at the Mayflower Apartments complex, and in two separate incidents last winter, female students reported being grabbed by men while walking near the college.
