Man Injured in Officer-Involved Shooting

An armed confrontation between a man and a Westbrook Police Officer ended when the man was shot and injured by the cop.

According to the BDN, Westbrook Police were called to the report of an armed, suicidal man on Longfellow Street just before 6 o'clock Saturday morning. There was a confrontation during which the man was shot by an officer. He was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland for treatment of his injuries.

The incident is being investigated by the Attorney General's Office, which is standard procedure in an officer-related shooting. More details are expected later today.
