State Police say a Portland man was seriously injured Thursday morning when he lost control of his car on Interstate 295 on the Brunswick exit.

Trooper Marvin Hinkley said Christopher Doran, 35 of Portland, suffered head injuries and was taken to Maine Medical Center. The trooper said it appeared that Doran overcorrected as he was taking Exit 28 and his car slammed into several trees just off the road around 7:45 AM.

The car was demolished and the exit was closed for three hours while the crash site was cleared. Traffic on the interstate was not affected.
