A man in Pinellas County, Fla., has been arrested and accused of pretending to be country superstar Jason Aldean in order to defraud a mentally handicapped woman.

According to WFLA, Daniel Farris posed as Aldean on Facebook, and as a friend of the singer's, to collect $230 (of a requested $2,000) from his victim; he also convinced the woman to have sex with him. Farris allegedly told the victim that Aldean loved her, but that he was busy on tour, and his friend needed the money. Farris admits to using the money to pay for his addiction to prescription pain pills.

Aldean is not the first country star to be impersonated by a criminal. Back in 2014, Peggy Sue Evans pleaded guilty to scamming Don Fulton out of his life savings after they met on a dating website and Evans claimed to be Alison Krauss in order to get Fulton to marry her. Only a few months into their marriage, Evans convinced Fulton to sign over the deed to his house to her and list her as an heir on his will; she also drained his bank account.

The real Aldean is on the road on his 2016 Six String Circus Tour, which is currently scheduled to run through Oct. 1. He was recently announced as the first headliner for the 2017 Taste of Country Music Festival and is producing Tyler Farr's next album.

“He … he’s kind of an ass,” Farr says. “We’re good friends, and how you can tell if you have really good friends is if you give each other crap. And he dishes out quite a bit. It’s been good though ... He has been pretty hard on me."
