Man Crashes Pickup While Trying To Avoid An Oncoming SUV

State Police are looking for the driver of a black SUV in connection with a single-vehicle crash in Monticello.

Police received a report of a single-vehicle accident just before 3:30 on Thursday afternoon. Driver Jonathan Willigar of Houlton told police he was driving his pickup north on Route 1, when he saw a black SUV cross the center line and head straight toward him. He swerved to avoid the SUV and subsequently lost control of his own vehicle. The pickup skidded off the northbound side of the road and struck a tree on the driver's side.

Willigar was taken to Houlton Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. His pickup is a total loss.

Police are asking for a call, at 532-5400, from anyone with information as to the identification of the black SUV and/or its driver.
