A Standish man accused in the death of his infant son appeared in court for the first time on Monday.

Eugene “Charlie” Martineau, 24, was formally charged with depraved indifference murder.

The Portland Press Herald reports Martineau wept as he was led into the courtroom.

He's accused of killing his 3-month-old son Leo Josephs.

Leo was taken to the hospital with several injuries on Wednesday. He was pronounced dead on Saturday.

Martineau is being held in the Cumberland County Jail on $150,000 bail.
