State police on Thursday arrested a 24-year-old Wilton man and charged him with murder in connection with the shooting death of a man from New Sharon.

Timothy Danforth was arrested by detectives following his indictment by the Franklin County Grand Jury on charges of murder, manslaughter and aggravated assault, police said in a news release Thursday evening.

Danforth is charged in the June 1 death Michael Reis, 24, who was gunned down outside a Weld Road home belonging to Danforth’s father.

Reis was part of a group of people who went to the home and got into a confrontation with Danforth and his father.

After the shooting, Reis was taken to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington, where he was pronounced dead.

Danforth is being held in the Franklin County Jail and will make his initial court appearance either Friday or Monday.
