The Maine Department of Transportation's informational website is undergoing an address change that Mainers will want to remember as they plan trips over the summer.

511maine.gov is the MDOT's website where residents can check on construction projects as they're determining the best route to get to their destination. In addition, it can let them know if they might need to allow for some extra time because of one-lane roads or delays.

But on May 26th, the site is moving to New England 511. On that site, you can plan your trip through Maine, into New Hampshire, and even on into Vermont! That will make navigating a New England getaway a lot more relaxing.

The site includes information about construction, road and bridge closures, and areas where traffic speeds may have been reduced. In addition, there's information about future projects, so you can plan ahead. When I checked it out today, there was a notification of a road closure due to a parade in Mapleton on May 30th. Talk about planning ahead!

Save New England 511 into your bookmarks, so you can access it easily before heading out on any unfamiliar routes. The road construction is a good thing, as crews work to improve your commute. But it's even better if you know about it ahead of time and don't get caught by surprise.
