A Navy Reserve veteran who was killed in Vietnam 50 years ago was laid to rest in Franklin County on Monday.

Lieutenant Neil Taylor was flying his final mission on September 14th, 1965, when his plane was shot down. His remains were recovered in 2013 and identified the following year.

Taylor was laid to rest with full military honors at Evergreen Cemetery in his hometown of Rangeley.

U.S. Senator Susan Collins attended the event, which included a Navy flyover.

Governor Paul LePage ordered flags at half-staff the day of the memorial service.
