Drunch.it a restaurant review blog is displeased with Portland's slogan change in 2013 and is suggesting new ideas. This draws attention to the strange and sometimes crazy slogans some Maine towns have.

In recent years Maine towns have started to update their town slogans. Old Orchard Beach changed their slogan back in 2004 to "It's a shore thing". In 2013 Portland changed their slogan to "Yes. Life's good here." After trying it out for a few years the Drunch.it writer is fed up with the slogan and is now suggesting other options that make more sense.

Because Portland's refurbished slogan is so-so, Drunch has swooped in with nine, better slogans for our beloved...

Here are some of the other town slogans you will see across the state.

  • Bangor; Queen City of the East
  • Millinocket: The Magic City
  • Bath: Maine’s Cool Little City
  • Presque Isle: The Star City
  • Strong: Toothpick Capital of the World
  • Farmington: Earmuff Capital of the World

And my favorite, Bucksport: Center of the known universe. Also, is it ironic the town of Cherryfield boasts the slogan "Blueberry Capital of the World". Shouldn't it be called Blueberryfield instead?

Most people don't know what Bangor's slogan is all about, and while it may sound prestigious and official, it is a bit outdated and could use a fresh new slogan. My suggestions are Bangor: Last place to use the bathroom till The County or Bangor: Yes, there is a city north of Portland.
