The town of Embden is considering a change in the name of "Katies Crotch Road" after numerous thefts of the street sign over the years.

The Morning Sentinel reports that it costs the town several hundred dollars a year to replace the stolen signs.

"You put it up and in a week’s time it’s down again," Charles Taylor, chairman of the town's board of selectmen told the newspaper. "Somebody takes it. You would think every dorm room in the state of Maine should have one by now."

The effort to change the name to Cadie Road will be considered in a vote on Friday.

A similar effort failed in 2012.
