Corporal Robert Tait grew up around Bar Harbor and Palmyra in the 1930's and '40's. He joined the United States Army at the tender age of 17 and was taken prisoner during the Korean Conflict. A very special procession from Newport to Bar Harbor will pay tribute to this brave soldier as he is returned to his native Maine.

Corporal Tait died much too young, at the age of 19, while being held as a prisoner of war. It's amazing that, after all these years, his family will finally have the comfort of knowing he's returned home.

A full military funeral is planned at 11am on Saturday, October 5th at Ledgelawn Cemetary in Bar Harbor. You're invited to show your support for this brave man and other soldiers who have made the supreme sacrifice for our country.

A group of motorcycles will be leaving the M Room in Newport at 8am sharp on Saturday and will travel to the cemetary. Rain or shine, by bike or by car, this procession will show support for our troops past, present, and future. For more information, you can call Bob West of the Maine Patriot Riders at 487-6005.

Rest in peace, Corporal Tait. Thank you for your service. And welcome home!
