Nearly 15,000 households lost power at the peak of a powerful wind storm last week, Emera Maine officials said on Tuesday.

The April 7 storm caused significant damage to the company's electrical system, according to a news release from Emera Maine. All customers affected by the wind storm were restored as of 4:30 p.m. Saturday, April 9

Wind gusts as high as 77 mph in some locations on Thursday night downed large trees and broke limbs. Damage assessors on Friday morning discovered widespread damage, primarily in Penobscot, Hancock and Washington Counties.

The majority of customers were restored by late Friday evening. Final cleanup from the wind storm continued throughout the day Saturday. Improved weather conditions on Friday and Saturday helped with restoration.
