A New Gloucester woman is accused of leaving her child alone in a car for hours Saturday night in Gray.

34-year-old Samantha Lovering was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, according to a news release from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff's office received a report of an intoxicated woman acting suspiciously on Main Street, near the Gray Square. Around the same time, Lovering flagged down an officer and reported her car stolen.

According to the release, her vehicle had not been stolen and officers found it where Lovering left it. Deputies say her 7-year-old son was found asleep in the back seat.

The child was picked up at the scene by his father.
