Gas prices in northern New England have spiked after Hurricane Harvey, including in Maine, where the average price for a gallon of gasoline Tuesday morning was $2.72, according to GasBuddy.

The average retail price of gasoline in the state was $2.39 per gallon one week ago.

In New Hampshire, the average price was about $2.69, up about 38 cents from the previous week.

The average price of gasoline in Vermont Tuesday morning was about $2.74, an increase of about 38 cents.

Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst for GasBuddy, told the Associated Press that gasoline prices will likely remain higher until Texas recovers from Harvey.
