Maine Forest Rangers Report 15,435 Lightning Strikes In 48 Hours

No, it wasn't your imagination, there's been a whole lot of lightning strikes in Maine lately!

This image provided by Maine Forest Rangers shows 15,435 strikes in our state in the past 48 hours!

One of those strikes was well documented, if you haven't seen the VIDEO yet of the church steeple being struck in Grand Isle, then you should view it now!  Quite amazing!

Meanwhile, here's a  great tool to watch lightning strikes anywhere in the world in almost real time!  A company called Blitzortung began this service about a year ago, and it's very interesting.  Just watch the map and you'll see strikes within seconds of them actually happening!
