Maine Fire Department Celebrates 100 Years

The Cumberland Fire Department is celebrating its 100th anniversary with an open house and a stirring video, displaying how far the organization has come.

The video is pretty interesting, showing the differences in the old equipment versus the new stuff. Also displayed are the many different kinds of activities the department is a part of, from accidents to fires, to community events!

It's always important to show our appreciation for these men and women who risk their lives to protect ours. But this weekend, especially, as we all remember the sacrifices made by firefighters in New York City, it's a wonderful time to recognize these amazing people.

The Cumberland Fire Department invites the public to a birthday celebration on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Cumberland Fairgrounds. Everyone is welcome to enjoy plenty of fun activities!
