Best-known for his role as Leland McKenzie on “L.A. Law,” Maine-raised actor Richard Dysart has died.

The actor's wife Kathryn Jacobi Dysart announced that her husband died of cancer Sunday at their Santa Monica home.

Born in Brighton, MA in 1929, Dysart grew up in Maine and attended Gould Academy in Bethel, ME.

Dysart was a Broadway veteran and he appeared in many movies, but he was best known for playing Leland McKenzie on “L.A. Law,” an NBC legal drama that aired from 1986 to 1994.

In addition to Kathryn, Dysart is survived by his stepson Arie, daughter-in-law Jeannine Jacobi, mother-in-law Lenore, brother and sister-in-law Nadine and John Jacobi and grandchildren Abby and Levi.
