The Bangor Redemption and Beverage Center has closed its doors after more than three decades in business.

The redemption center, which also sold beer, wine and propane, closed for good on Dec. 31.

Owner Paul Baron cited the increase in the state's minimum wage as a contributing factor in his decision to close his doors, which had been open in Bangor for 36 years.

The business employed eight people.

The property at 490 Broadway in Bangor is for sale.
