Make no mistake, I love where we live. Jim and I have a great place in Orrington that sits in the trees, on a private road. It's secluded, private, and rural. We love all the birds, squirrels, and occasional deer that wander by. But this summer, we're also dealing with a constant soundtrack that can get on your nerves!

Before the ornithologists start writing comments, understand that I love birds. We have a wide variety of them that pass through our yard, and stop by for a snack. (while the dogs are inside, of course!) And baby birds are adorable! Those cute little beaks rising above the sides of the nest, waiting for Mama to bring the food. Adorable, right?

But see, those same little birds also cry. A lot. All day, in fact! We're pretty sure it's a robin's nest high up in the trees next to our house that contains what I can only guess is more than one little chick. We can't see the nest, so there's no 'awww' factor here. Just the fact that they let out their little 'cheeps' continuously, all day long. It's cute, at first. Then it gets funny that they just keep going! But, before too long, it gets somewhat annoying that the noise just....keeps.....going.

I do know, however, that like my kids who grew up and found their wings, so will the baby birds. They'll fly away from the nest before too long and the noise will stop. Will I miss it? Time will tell, I guess. Somehow I think I'll enjoy the peace and quiet!
