Living History at Leonard’s Mills This Weekend
Step back into the late 1700’s this weekend in Bradley. See an old saw mill in action, try some beanhole beans, and learn all about lumber and logging in the early years.
With the wooded grounds at Leonard’s Mills covered in white cloth tents and a mix of lumberers, soldiers, and women in big dresses and bonnets you will feel like you are in another time.
Just got back late last night from Leonard's Mills' Living History Days. I got to spend two full days demonstrating 18th century cabinetmaking for the 2,000 visitors that came through. It was lots of fun but a bit exhausting. My family got to sleep in settler's log cabin all weekend and we cooked all our food on the open fire (pies and all). This event is always so much fun… the best camping weekend we could imagine. #leonardsmills #livinghistorydays #toolchest #woodshavings #workbench
Kids will love the animals, riding behind a horse, making yarn and cutting wood by hand. Lunch is traditionally beanhole beans cooked in a pot in the ground with warm cider!
There will be a chantey group from the Pembroke area performing historic songs of Maine lumberjacks and river drivers on Sunday. Join in the singing from 1-3.
The event takes place October 7th and 8th from 10AM-4PM.
